The Health Information Management profession is facing an educator shortage.  Research shows that there are HIM professionals who are interested in making a career change from practice to academia, but they are not sure how to go about it.  This session will focus on what it means to be an educator.  Topics covered will include the academic environment (public vs. private, 4-year vs. 2-year); the pros and cons of "academic life"; and the various roles of a faculty member, including teaching, advising, service and research.  There will be discussion on the steps that a practitioner might want to consider if they decide to become an educator.

Plan to Attend the Long Term Care Spring 2008 Meeting
