Do any of you think this weather is strange? Unusually
warm, then cold, then light snow, then warm, cold,
thunder storms, hail, etc. January is a very different
month so far this year. Kind of like our lives in HIM,
all over the place at times. The Annual
Meeting Planning Committee has been very busy organizing
an outstanding agenda for the education sessions on
Wednesday, April 25th and the MoHIMA educational
conference sessions Thursday and Friday, April 26 & 27.
There will be something for everyone. While ICD-10 may
be a strong focus, there is a great variety planned. See
more information in our January newsletter and on our
web site. I love the “countdown calendar” on the main
web page. Check it out! Of note, this
will be our 60th Anniversary and hope to have some
special surprises to celebrate during our Annual Meeting
in April. If any of our MoHIMA members have stories,
pictures, memorabilia, etc. from the past 60 years,
please let us know and send to
president@mohima.org. Our Dir. of
Public Relations, along with the ICD-10 Task Force, have
been working on continual updates for the ICD-10 Corner
on the web site. Every month there is great information
for our members and they are working on plans to provide
updated lists of trainers, education opportunities, etc.
Also see the very cool calendar “countdown” on the I-10
Corner site. One thing I am particularly
excited about is our first – Missouri State Hill Day.
Lucy and Jane, two of our delegates, have worked hard on
this project and a member of HIMSS is joining us in the
event. On Monday, January 23, they will head to Jeff
City and speak with as many of our state officials as
possible. The agenda is to hand out informational
fliers, sharing information about our professions,
making them aware of who we are. Be watching for details
of the momentous day in next month’s newsletter.
I hope you enjoy this month’s and all MoHIMA
newsletters. Kathy and her team do an outstanding job
each month for sure. But remember, this is YOUR
newsletter and all are invited to participate, send in
articles, ideas to improve, etc. Let us know what you
would like to see in future editions and even on the web
site. Enjoy this very different winter we
are having… Barb |
